Abstract

Ancient Korean novels, mainly with in the title, were written in Chinese for the following reasons: first, the cultural sense originated from sadae (serving the great); second, keeping up the traditions of Chinese history and biography literature; third, employing the structure and narration forms of Chinese biographical novels and the successful transition from biographies to novels.
