An elementary study of the bamboo worship of the Yi people and the reproduction culture

As a totem of Yi People, bamboo is closely related with reproductive organ worship. In primitive society of Yi people, bamboo is initially symbol of female reproductive organ, meaning child-born. With transition from matriarchy to patriarchy, bamboo had gradually become a male symbol, and was combined with worship of male forefathers, meaning the soul of bamboo forefather. The reproductive organ worship is origin of totem worship and forefather worship is first signs. All of them have connotation of reproductive organ worship.
