Abstract
The paper presents the original features of in the history of Chinese philosophy from the view of etymology.This study focuses on the thought of harmony in classical Confucianism.Harmony has three kinds of content with gradual development: harmony in self,harmony between humans,and harmony between human and nature in which family life plays an important role.Correspondingly,there are three main ways for achievements: sincerity,the way for achieving self harmony;filialness and ritual,the way for achieving harmony between humans;location,the way for achieving harmony between human and nature.
