Abstract

In this research, the plastic limit load of elbows under internal pressure was discussed in use of finite element method(FEM),estimate formulas and experimental method. The FEA results showed that the limit load will increase with the increasing wall-thickness and bend-radius of elbows under iternal pressure and agree very well with the estimated results from Goodall solutions with a maximum error of 6 58%.In the end, those results were validated by using the experimental data.
