Abstract

The karyotypes of Trachinotus ovatus were examined from their renal tissues by PHA injection-air drying method.Observation of chromosome spreads under the microscope showed that there are 48 chromosomes in diploid and its karyotype formulae is 2n=48=2sm+6m+40t.Its fundamenal arm number(NF) is 56.The characteristics of Karyotypes is in accordance with the typical characters of the karyotypes in the higher group of fish evolutionary taxonomy.
