Abstract

The cationic polymerization of cyclosiloxane in aqueous emulsion was perfected with octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane(D4) as monomer, dodecyl dimethyl benzyl bromide(DBDA) as cationic emulsifying agent and KOH as catalyst. The conversion of synthesized polymer was examined by Gel Permeation Chromatography(GPC).Then, the effect of temperature, catalyst concentration, emulsifying agent concentration, stir rate and water/oil ratio on polymerization rate were investigated in details. The reaction conditions were as follows:the amount of the monomer is 34% of the total polymerization system, the KOH amount is 1% of the monomer, the amount of cationic emulsifier is 6.9% of the monomer, and with reaction temperature of 70 ℃,and stirring speed of 250 r /min.
