Abstract

In the process of beach nourishment project design,many problems should be considered,such as the needs of local government and the geomorphological background of the beach,as well as engineering requirements.In addition to some theoretical considerations,we discussed the methods and technical problems for design of a beach nourishment project in this paper.Critical parameters,such as the height of beach berm,profile of shoreface and grain size of nourishing sands,are considered,and engineering measures,such as headland control,beach nourishment,construction of offshore breakwaters and monitoring of beach profiles,are recommended.
