Abstract
Although studies on seeping loss of mud have been done all over the world,a systematic study on mud losses in fractured formation is not yet found,and a solution for lost circulation in fractured formations is yet to be provided.An extensive study was conducted on lost circulation in fractured formations using a self-made HTHP lost circulation tester,DL-A,based on a comprehensive review of lost circulation control technology both used in China and abroad.A general rule of lost circulation control in fractured formations was found and a relatively ideal lost circulation control fluid formulation for controlling mud losses in fractured formations was presented.
