Abstract

William Blake occupies an important place in the English literature with his unique writing style. This paper intends to analyse, from contrasting settings and characters, diverse images and symbols, contrary tones and moods, his lyrics-Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience. These two Songs illustrate the Two Contrary States of Human Soul-Innocence and Experience, which are dependent and complementary to each other, and both are necessary to human existence.Innocence and Experience exist reasonably like The Lamb(good) and The Tiger(evil), because both of which are creations of God.And it is this unity of opposites that determines human existence and pushes forward the human society.
