Abstract
Objective To observe the long-term clinical effect of warm-needling therapy in treating knee osteoarthritis(KOA).Method Sixty patients with KOA were randomized into a treatment group and a control group,30 in each. The treatment group was intervened by warm-needling therapy, and the control group was by medication. The WOMAC was used to evaluate the therapeutic effect before treatment, after 2-course treatment, and in the 3-month follow-up study.Result After 2 treatment courses, the total effective rate was 86.7% in the treatment group versus 90.0% in the control group, and the difference was insignificant(P0.05).The result of the 3-month follow-up study showed that, the total effective rate was 83.3% in the treatment group versus 60.0% in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P0.05).The 3-month follow-up study also found that the subitem scores of WOMAC in the treatment group were all significantly different from those in the control group(P0.01,P0.05).Conclusion Warm-needling therapy is an effective approach in treating KOA.
