Characteristics of Soil Seed Banks in Vegetation Degraded Areas of the Lower Reaches of Tarim River

In this paper,the basic characteristics of soil seed bank and the relationship between soil seed bank and standing vegetation in four types of degraded areas in the lower reaches of Tarim River were compared by germination experiment.The results show that,1)There are 10 species(or genera) in the soil seed bank.The average density of soil seed bank is 1633.33 seeds/m2.The species and density of soil seed bank in Kuergan are lower than that of Yingsu,Kaerdayi and Alegan.2)In terms of the sum of the four sites,the densities of the soil seed bank in 0-5cm layer,5-10cm layer and 10-30cm layer are 855.66seeds/ m2,400seeds/m2 and 377.78 seeds/m2,respectively.3)The density of herbaceous in soil seed bank is higher than thrubs obviously in every site.(4)The similarity coefficient between soil seed bank and standing vegetation is very low in each site;With the aggravation of the degradation,the density and species abundance of soil seed bank decreases significantly,but it's more stabile in soil seed bank compare with standing vegetation.
