Abstract
There is a complex relation between delay and timing control design at signalized intersection. The present delay acquisition methods were analyzed.Using the measured real-time cycle delay and considering the traffic flow, the K-nearest neighbor algorithm was used to obtain the next cycle delay, and the forecasted delay was employed to study, the timing optimization of the next cycle.Based on an example in VISSIM simulation platform,it is proved that the optimization method described in the paper can decrease the intersection delay by 13.52%.Therefore,this method has potential applicability to signalized intersection control optimization in the future.
