Abstract
Hydroquinone could catalyze the discoloration of indigo carmine by potassium periodate in KH2PO4Na2HPO4 medium. Based on this, a new method for the determination of trace hydroquinone was established using catalytic kinetic spectrophotometry. Its linear ranges were 0.04~0.18 μg/mL and 0.28~0.54 μg/mL with the detection limit of 6.8×10-6 g/L. It was applied to the determination of hydroquinone in waste development reagent with good results.
