Abstract

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the cognition and requirement for health education of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary(COPD) in primary hospital.METHOD A questionnaire survey was conducted among 96 cases of COPD to analyze the patients' knowledge about COPD.RESULT Among the 96 patients,there were respectively 83.33%,20.83%,89.58%,36.45%,48.95% of them not fully understanding the nature of COPD,the relation between smoking and COPD,the meaning of pulmonary function examination,the use of breathing therapy and the significance of family oxygen therapy,which showed the lack of patients' knowledge about COPD.CONCLUSION Patients in primary hospital were lacked of the knowledge of COPD,but their needs for health education are eager.As a result it's necessary to develop an overall health education for patients in primary hospital.
