Abstract

Objective:To explore the experiences of stigma and coping styles of mental illness.Methods:A qualitative study was conducted on 12 patients with mental illness using in-depth interviews,date were analyzed by phenomenological analysis.Results:After diagnosed mental illness,all the patients produced shame psychology,felt frustration by others to avoid and felt sad with work and promotion is unfair treatmented.After was discriminated,many patients taked the wrong ways of coping to avoid social and deliberately conceal condition.For mental illness,some patients gave up the original work and some of them produced uncertainty sense for the future life.Conclusion:To strengthen health education of mental illness to change incorrect cognition in patients,doing psychological nursing well and providing emotional support.To strengthen propaganda and popularization on mental health knowledge to the public.
