Abstract

Benzaldehyde 1,2-propanediot acetal is synthesized from benzaldehyde and 1,2-propanediol in the presence of SO(2-)/4-/TiO_2-La_2 O_3. The catalytic activity of SO(2-)/4-/TiO_2-La_2 O_3 to the atdolisation is discussed. The influences of the factors such as the ratio of 1,2-propanediol to benzaldehyde, dosage of the catalyst and the reaction time etc on the product yield are studied. The optimum conditions are: molar ratio of 1,2-pro-panediol to benzaldehyde is 2.25:1, the dosage of the catalyst is equal to 0.50% of feed stocks, cyclohexane can be used as dehydrator, and the reaction time is 50 min. The yield of the product reaches 80. 8% under the optimum conditions.
