The value of magnetic resonance imaging on diagnose stage of cervical cancer

Objective To explore the value of magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)examination for determining the stage of cervical cancer.Methods 228 patients with diagnosed cervical cancer newly underwent pelvic MRI scan.Results of tumor staging based on MRI image analysis,clinical evaluation and postoperative pathological examination were compared.Results Based on MRI image,65 cases were classified as stage Ⅰ,18 were in stage Ⅱa,67 cases were in stage Ⅱb,73 cases were in stage Ⅲ,5 cases were in stage Ⅳ.Based on clinical evaluation,68 cases were in stage Ⅰ,20 cases were in Ⅱa,62 cases were in stage Ⅱb,73 cases were in stage Ⅲ,5 cases were in stage Ⅳ.Postoperative pathology confirmed 5 cases with parametrical invasion.The accuracy of MRI diagnosis and staging were 100% and 95.61%,respectively.Conclusion MRI examination of uterine cervical cancer has a high accuracy of staging,which can facilitate formulation of treatment plan and prognosis.
