Abstract
OBJECTIVE To analyze the health service need, demand and utilization among rural residents in Rongxian county of Guangxi.METHODS Vsing stratified sampling method to investigate the family health situation with questionnaire in 2 283 residents among 445households, 6 administrative villages and 3 towns. RESULTS The two-week prevalence rate of rural residents in the investigated area was 223.8‰, the rate of chronic disease was 16.0%, the rate of two-week consultation was 32.9%, the hospitalization rate was 7.4%.92.9% of the patients choosed village clinics and township hospitals while they are in need, while 57.7% of the in-patients choosed a county-level hospitals. 22.9% of the rural residents who should be in the clinic and 71.4% of the rural residents who should be hospitalized did not seek a medical services due to economic stress. CONCLUSION The health service need, demand and utilization degree of rural residents were in a high level, their preference of seeking health service was tend to be reasonable. The economic burden of disease was still a main factor that influenced the health services utilization of rural residents.
