Abstract

The paper analyzes the construction connotation,the characteristic of the form and the function of the East Pavilion,proving the building's character of the post type for the road and the water way and its location,and further answering the questions raised by Mr.Zhang Shizhao whether the East Pavilion of Liuzhou was analogous to Mingtang with the evidence of the relevant historical materials and the literary works of Liu Zongyuan.The political,cultural,landscape and leisure functions of the pavilion in the Tang Dynasty are also distinguished.It presents that the frontier pavilion of post had taken the important mission to spread the culture in the stage opening up virgin soil of the Central Plains culture,and it has the characteristics that the function blends such as politics,culture,landscape and hotel.According to relevant documents of the post buildings type,taking the basic discussion to layout the plan of the five-room of the East Pavilion civilized by the Mingtang in the Tang Dynasty.
