Abstract

The paper discusses traffic calming measures in urban residential area. 217 residents, divided into 2 groups by car hold, were investigated on traffic calming measures in 4 mixed traffic neighborhoods. And the speed tests about traffic calming measures were made as well. The results show that there are different preferences to different traffic claming measures, such as speed hump, cushion, island, chicane and choker; moreover, traffic calming measures limit vehicle’s speed obviously and bicycle’s speed faintly, while pedestrian system become safer.
