Abstract
In polymeric sponge replication method, the slurry properties have the great effects on the microstructure and the mechanical property of the foam ceramic. In this paper, the influences of milling time and the solid content on the stability, the rheology and the distribution of particle size of the alumina foam ceramic slurry were studied. The results show that after 4 h milling, the slurry possesses the low sedimentation, appropriate viscosity and the small median diameter of alumina particle. It is indicated that the stability and the rheology are improved, and the effective impregnation of slurry into sponge is ensured. When the solid content is between 25% and 35%,the better properties of alumina slurry is obtained. The significant impacts of milling time and the solid content on the slurry property are proved.
