Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical therapeutic effect of external counterpulastion(ECP) in addition to the conventional therapy, and to discuss the correlation between clinical status and hemodynamics of the basal cerebral arteries. Method 184 children with CP tested by transcranial color doppler(TCD) were treated with ECP in addition to the conventional therapy, and by 3 months treatment the blood flow rate was compared with before. Then the clinical status was assessed with scales of activities of daily living (ADL). Result By 3 months treatment, the total rate of efficacy reached 89.7% . The blood flow rate increased extremely in those patient had made recovery, and increased insignificantly in the suffering children had not got better, and decreased in the sick children had got worse. Conclusion ECP in addition to the conventional therapy is efficacious to improve the clinical status and hemodynamics of the basal cerebral arteries in CP children and maybe there are some relationship between the clinical status and hemodynamics of the basal cerebral arteries .
