EFFICACY OF METHADONE MAINTENANCE TREATMENT COMBINED WITH SOCIAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL INTERVENTION

Abstract

Objective:To study the efficacy of social-psychological intervention for heroin addicts on methadone maintenance treatment.Methods:Intervention group(101 cases) received methadone maintenance treatment combined with social psychological intervention;control group(96 cases) only received methadone maintenance treatment.The anxious and depression conditions,and substance abuse degree,etc.were compared.Results:After 12 months intervention,the intervention group had greater improvement than the control group in anxious condition,occupation/society support condition,family/social relation and energetic condition,etc.Conclusion:Methadone maintenance treatment can only improve partial social and psychological status of heroin addicts.Comprehensive social-psychological intervention should be conducted during the treatment.
