Abstract

Objective To investigate the predictability of the total ocular spherical aberration in pseudophakic eyes with different aspheric intraocular lenses( IOL) implantation after phacoemulsification. Methods Fifty-eight patients with age-related cataract(58 eyes) from January to May 2013 were randomly divided into three groups to undergo phacoemulsification and aspheric IOL implantation respectively. The Tecnis group(20 eyes) was implanted with Tecnis Z9003 IOL; IQ group(19 eyes) was implanted with ArcySof IQ IOL; and PY-60 AD group(19 eyes) was implanted with PY-60 AD IOL. The uncorrected visual acuity(UCVA),best corrected visual acuity(BCVA),spherical equivalent refraction, spherical aberration of the cornea and whole eye at a 6-mm pupil were observed 3 months after the operation. Results There were no significant differences in UCVA,BCVA,spherical equivalent refraction, surgically induced corneal spherical aberration and predictive error 3 months after the operation among the three groups(P 0. 05); The differences between the preoperative and postoperative corneal spherical aberration in the three groups were not statistically significant(P 0. 05); the differences between the predicted value and measured value of postoperative total spherical aberration in the three groups were not statistically significant(P 0. 05). Conclusion The predictability of the total ocular spherical aberration in pseudophakic eyes with different aspheric IOL implantations after phacoemulsification is favorable, and it may provide basis for individuation implantation of the aspheric IOLs.
