Three Western Female Missionaries' Unusual Reading of China in the Late Qing Dynasty ——From the Perspective of Gender and Christian Mission

The Western female missionaries coming to China in the late Qing Dynasty conducted their own close readings of China with their various identities as Westerners,female Westerners and female Western missionaries.From the perspective of gender study,and using such concepts or theories as women's space,feminist geography and women's identity,this paper made an effort in analyzing these Western female missionaries' unusual readings of China in aspects of natural landscape,society and culture,and Chinese people,hoping to show that there are gender signs in the Western missionary's activities in China in a gendered society.
