Abstract

Many critics have explored various aspects of Their Eyes Were Watching God,the most acclaimed book by Zora Neale Hurston.Terms specific to postcolonial discourse such as double consciousness,dual consciousness,race and culture construct are adopted to analyze different quests for the racial identity by Joe,Tea Cake and Janie,which reveals the true identity of African Americans between black and white culture.
