Improved In-dwelling Stomach Tubule for Preventing Complications of Nasal Feeding in Elderly Patients

Objective To discuss improved in-dwelling stomach tubule for preventing complications in elderly patients with nasal feeding.Methods 26 Elderly bedridden patients were randomly divided into improved group(n=13) and controlled group(n=13),The traditional in-dwelling method was performed to controlled group as well as improved in-dwelling method was performed to conventional group.Each group was treated with the same measures for scientific and reasonable care: close observation of choking,food refluxing,gastric retention,the occurrence of aspiration pneumonia,and to take appropriate preventive measures.Results The complications of nasal feeding in the improved group were significantly less than controlled group.Conclusion Inserted stomach tubule with improved method while gave a scientific and reasonable care measures can effectively prevent the occurrence of complications in elderly patients with nasal feeding.
