The Application of Joint Operation Using GPS-RTK and Total Station in Digital Mapping

With constant development of the national economy,the mapping requirements are becoming higher.The traditional flat-panel mapping has been difficult to meet the needs of the engineering projects and is gradually replaced by digital mapping.Currently,the price of mapping equipment such as GPS and Total Station dropped substantially,which makes them gradually become the mainstream digital mapping equipment for the surveying and mapping units.However,GPS-RTK and Total Station have their own conditions in application.For the complex environment of the surveyed area such as blocks over the surveyed area,undulating terrain,many features etc.,using single digital equipment may affect the progress of the project and even could not finish the project.Therefore,this paper proposed the Joint Operation by using GPS-RTK and Total Station,which has been proved practicable in digital mapping.
