Abstract

Dialdehyde cellulose( DAC) was prepared via sodium periodate as selective oxidized agent. A 3 ×3 orthogonal experiment was applied in the experiment, with factors including oxidant concentration, reaction temperature and pH value. The optimal reaction conditions were determined with content of aldehyde group as an indicator. The optimum conditions were listed as following: the reaction temperature is 35 ℃,molar ratio of sodium periodate to cellulose is 2∶ 1,and pH is 2. It was found that the factors affecting the reaction were successively the temperature,pH value and the oxidant concentration. The molecular structure of dialdehyde cellulose is characterized with infrared spectrum.
