Abstract

This paper analyses the characteristics of the space distribution, seismotectonics, focal mechanism of the mid-strong earthquakes in the Northeast of China, and discusses the effect of the major earthquake's migration direction on the subduction zone in the sea of Japan to the space distribution of the mid-strong earthquake in the Northeast of China. It is indication that the seismotectonics of the midstrong earthquakes along NW direction are main, the earthquakes of Ms≥5.0 and Ms≥5.8 account for 67% and 91% respectively. The major earthquake's migratory direction on the subduction zone in the sea of Japan produces important effect for the space distribution of the shallow earthquakes in the Northeast of China. The earthquakes accour in Songliao basin and it's periphery when the angle between Tanlu fracture zone and the migratory direction is larger (α≥70°);it takes place nearby the Tanlu fault zone when the angle is smaller (α70°).
