Abstract
Observing the developement of contemporary English words,we notice that there is a tendency of the nominalization of adjectives.The phenomenon of the nominalization of adjectives exists in both English and Chinese,however,there are similarities and differences in its formation,syntactic function and rhetorical characteristics. A comparative study of the nominalization of English and Chinese adjectives is beneficial not only to the teaching of foreign languages and translation, but also to our language communication.
