Abstract

Objective To introduce a new procedure for thumb reconstruction Methods Subacute primary thumb reconstruction was performed in 10 cases, by combined transfer of the dorsal flap from the big toe and digital neurovascular island flap from the ulnar side of the middle finger or the radial side of the ring finger Results All the transplants survived The appearance and function of the reconstructed thumbs were satisfactory Conclusion This procedure provides a new method for thumb reconstruction The main indications are degloved injuries of the thumbs and Ⅱ~Ⅲ degree defect of the thumbs
