Abstract
Objective To study the antifebrile effect and clinical efficacy on infantile exogenous fever treated with moxibustion at the back points with Zhuang medicinal thread so as to provide the clinical trial evidences on the characteristic features of Zhuang medicine for their standardization in pediatric clinical application. Methods Two hundred cases of infantile exogenous fever were randomized into an intervention group and a control group,100 cases in each one. For the cases less than 38. 5 ℃ of body temperature,in the control group,the physical hypthermia method such as cooling paste and tepid water sponge bath was used; in the intervention group,moxibustion with Zhuang medicinal thread was applied to eight points on the back,8cones each time. For the cases ≥38. 5 ℃,libuprofen suspension or acetaminophen solution was prescribed,or they were used alternatively in the two groups; moxibustion with Zhuang medicinal thread was supplemented at eight points on the back in the intervention group. Results The time of complete antifebrile in the intervention group was better than that in the control group,indicating the significant difference( P 0. 05). The body temperature in 24 h and 48 h after treatment was different in comparison( P 0. 05) and the difference was not significant in 72 h between the two groups( P 0. 05). The symptom score in 72 h of treatment was different significantly between the two groups( P 0. 05),meaning the clinical efficacy in the intervention group 72 h after treatment was better than that in the control group. Conclusion The moxibustion with Zhuang medicinal thread achieves the significant antifebrile effect on infantile exogenous fever,characterized as simple in application and economic in cost.
