Comparative study of clinical manifestation between depression and depression with diabetes.

Objective To explore the difference of clinical manifestation in depression comorbidity with/without II-type diabetes.Methods There were 30 patients with depression comorbidity with/without II-type diabetes in the A and B group respectively,who were 1:1 paired-sample.They were appraised by Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD) and Mini-mental State Examination(MMSE),the scores were statistically analyzed.Results The total scores of HAMD and the factor-scores of hopelessness and retardation in A group were significantly higher than those in B group(P0.01).The factor-scores of anxiety/somatization,cognitive disturbance and sleep disturbance in A group were also significantly higher(P0.05).The total scores of MMSE and the factor-scores of orientation,recall,remembrance and speech in A group were significantly lower than those in B group.The total scores of HAMD and MMSE had negative correlation in both groups.Conclusion The depressive symptom and cognition function might have more severe defect in depression comorbidity with II-type diabetes,and the more severe depressive symptom,the more severe cognition function.
