A classification method for urban hinterland based on improved field model in Shandong province

A reasonable division of urban hinterland is the key to realize the integration of city structure and the basis to promote the city coordinated development.According to the deficiency that hindering factors are rarely considered in the traditional classification method of urban hinterland,the factors were put into the field model,and then the city comprehensive scale in the model was revised.The city hinterland dividing method based on the improved field model was proposed to delineate the urban spheres of influence better.Based on the improved field model,the rational division of urban hinterland was achieved.Taking 17 cities in Shandong province as the research object,the city hinterland division was analyzed.The results showed that there were obvious difference among 17 cities in urban hinterland areas and the regional center city's sphere of influence was far beyond the scope of administrative.The results also demonstrated that the coincidence degree between urban hinterland areas and their administrative region was lower.This research showed that a city hinterland was not completely related to its strength,and it should be defined by the strength of both the central city and the surrounding cities.This article completed a redefinition of city hinterland for each city in economic zone,and it was expected to afford a certain reference to the future city planning and urban structure adjustment.
