Abstract

A highly sensitive chemiluminescence (CL) sensor for the determination of sulfite combined with flow injection analysis was developed. It was based on the oxidation of sulfite by permanganate immobilized on a anion-exchange column in acidic medium with quinine as a sensitizer. The CL emission intensity was linear with sulfite concentration in the range of 1.0×10~(-7)~5.0×10~(-4) g/mL with the detection limit of 5×10~(-8) g/mL. A complete analysis, including sampling and washing, took 1 min with a relative standard deviation of 3.5%. The sensor was stable for over 200 determinations and was successfully applied to the determination of sulfite in beer samples.
