Evaluation of Data Quality of the 1990 Census Based on 2000 Census

In this paper,we re-evaluated the data quality of the 1990 census by reverse survival analysis technique and comparative analysis with the help of the Lexis Diagram based on the difference of reference date between the 1990 and the 2000 census.We found that there are serious underreporting in the 0-9 age groups in the 1990 census,the total population undercounted for both males and females is 12.69 million.There are not only underreporting but also overcounting in the 10-18 age groups,there is also a big difference between males and females for the undercounted population.
