Abstract
The recombinant Newcastle disease virus (NDV) (rL-VP2) expressing the VP2 gene of very virulent infectious bursal disease virus (vvIBDV) Gx strain as a candidate vaccine was evaluated. The vaccine was administered to 18 day old SPF chicken embryos with different doses and antibody titers were detected at 9,14 and 21 days post hatching. The results showed that the vaccine did not hamper hatching or surviving post hatching when rL-VP2 was administered with 104 EID50/egg dosage. The rL-VP2 vaccination could completely protect chickens against the NDV F48E9 strain and vvIBDV Gx strain challenge at four weeks post-hatch.
