Abstract
The discrete vortex method was adopted to simulate and analyze the vortex structure and pressure distribution of the flow field at the nozzle exit. Two types of nozzles with different nozzle lips were investigated. The simulation results indicate that large vortex structures can be formed out of the nozzle exit. The vortex structures can move toward downstream under the effect of the flow field and other vortices. And the pressure of vortex conglomerated area decreases greatly, which results in the occurrence of cavitation more easily. The comparison of the pressure fields of the two nozzle lips shows that the shape of nozzle lip plays an important role in the formation of jet vortex structure. Hence the shape of nozzle lip should be considered in the research and application of cavitation jet.
