Abstract

The solids motion in spout-fluid bed was investigated using a discrete element method(DEM) with the coefficient of restitution calculated from the mechanical properties and impact velocity of the granules. The influence of different coefficient of restitution on collision between particles was investigated. The impact velocity and displacement of droplets, the distributions of concentration, velocity and temperature of particles were predicted. The results show that the usage of the coefficient of restitution given by relations of impact velocity of particles improves the predictions of DEM.The coefficient of restitution has a great influence on the granular temperature, total number of colliding particles, impact velocity between particles etc.The coefficient of restitution of particles in spout-fluid bed has a complex distribution due to the effect of impact velocity.
