An Overview of Institutional Innovation of Local Governments in China

Local government is an essential part of the political system of a country.It is closely linked to the people's daily life,and has played an increasingly important role in promoting the institutional transformation mechanism of marketization in China.So far the Chinese theoretical circles have achieved great improvements in the research of institutional innovation of local governments.The researches mainly concentrate on the motivation of institutional innovation of local governments,its effect and significance,roles,contents and paradox and on the way to overcome them.This paper gives a review of these achievements and points out the existing shortcomings.
