Lingering between Center and Edge:The Educational Association of China and Educational Reform in the Late Qing Dynasty

Abstract

The Educational Association of China was founded in 1890,which was picking to solve the problem for all Chinese education including the Christian education,and the special western educational background of the missionaries has become the important participant of Chinese educational reform.They introduced the western public examination system,discussed specific measures for the new education reform in China,and consulted with the Qing Government for the position of the Christian education,which was trying to assist the Chinese government to draw a complete new education blueprint.However the special background and social conditions made the missionaries' efforts a wishful thinking.
