Abstract
Objective To search for factors affecting the surgical outcome of neuroblastoma in children. Methods The timing and methods of operation on neuroblastoma of 108 cases during the last 16 years were analyzed. Results At presentation, 13 cases belonged to stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ (12%), 40 cases belonged to stage Ⅲ (37%) and 55 cases to stage Ⅳ (51%). Among the 88 cases who underwent surgical treatment, the two-year survival rate was 100% in stage Ⅰ, 88.8% in stage Ⅱ, 17.5% in stage Ⅲ and 14.3% in stage Ⅳ. Complete tumor resection was performed on 8 cases by delayed primary excision. Conclusion An early diagnosis and adjunctive therapy are important to increase the resection rate and improve the prognosis of neuroblastoma in children.
