Abstract
Objective:To compare and evaluate the role of bone marrow smear and trephine biopsy in differential diagnosis of patients with pancytopenia and investigate the common causes of pancytopenia. Methods:Three hundred twenty cases were enrolled.Their bone marrow smear and biopsy section wereanalyzed, and compared with each other. Results:It was showed that the degree of cellularity in bone marrow biopsy was higher than that from the smear. Conclusion:Bone marrow biopsy section can offer better cellular structure compared with smear.Combination of bone marrow smear and biopsy was helpful for accurate diagnosis. However non-hemotological diseases should not be neglected.
