On the Concept of Filial Piety in Chinese Culture

Filial piety is a very important aspect of Chinese traditional culture.The origin of filial piety has something to do withtotem worshipin ancient times.When human beings entered patriarchy society,the concept of filial piety appeared.In feudal society,the ruler dominated everything under heaven with filial piety,which became an instrument of feudal dictatorship.Now filial piety with its great value still has a solid foundation in social life.It is an important cultural problem to study in modern times.We should develop a new concept of filial piety through education,law and morality and make the filial piety into a kind of power to push the society forward.
