The renaissance of regressing to tradition——The debate between New Culture school and Xueheng school

The debate between Xueheng school and New Culture school was in fact one within western learning.What is most important is that the main members of Xueheng school insisted on reunderstanding the immanence of traditional culture from the angle of western learning,making up for the utilitarian nature of western culture with traditional culture and promoting the special aesthetic features of Chinese culture.Therefore,they suggested that we should discuss learning,seek for truth,flourish the quaintessence of Chinese culture,compromise new knowledge and make criticisms fairly.They attached great importance to making a thorough and systematic study of western theories and selecting carefully.To some extent,Xueheng school had a better view about Chinese and western cultures.
