Clinical application of snuffbox arteriovenous fistula in old age hemodialysis patients

Objective To study the predominance of clinical application with snuffbox arteriovenous fistula in old age uremia maintenance hemodialysis patients.Methods Forty-six old age hemodialysis patients were operated arteriovenous fistulas by suturing,23 patients at anatomical snuffbox and the other 23 ones at wrist of distal forearm.To compare the time of fistula mature,the volume of blood flow,the free circulation rate of short-term and long-term,and complications between two groups.Results There were no significant differences in two groups on the time of fistula maturity,the volume of blood flow,the free circulation rate of short-term and long-term,and complications(P﹤0.05).Conclusion Snuffbox fistula has many merits,such as performing easily,having a higher long-term free circulation rate,fewer complications,and preserving the proximal blood vessesls for reconstructing standard fistula,so it is the most advisable permanent vascular access in old age uremia patients.
