Abstract

Located in the middle area of the Yangtze River,Hubei Province is a major tourism region in China, enjoying an abundance of tourism resources.Owing to different locations, history, natural conditions and economic development, tourism development in different areas is inconsistent.Based on the existing indicators in tourism industry scale, tourism income, number of tourists received,a three-grade indicator system is established to evaluate urban tourism development. An integrated evaluating model for regional tourism development is presented in this paper, using Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) for indicator weight calculation and entropy technologies for indicator weight coefficient modification.According to the tourism statistic date hierarchical clustering in 2005,the 17 cities in Hubei Province can be divided into three levels of tourism centers and three tourist areas. Therefore the papre discusses the way of building three major tourist areas and optimizing the structure of spatial strategy to further the development of regional tourism in Hubei.
