Abstract
The Rhodotorula strain RY-8 with high carotenoids yields was screened from marine. The effect of carbon source, nitrogen source, volumes and pH on biomass and carotenoids yields of RY-8 were studied. The optimal conditions for carotenoids fermentation were studied with orthogonal test. The results showed that the optimal conditions was as follows:glucose 25 g/L, yeast extract 10 g/L, volumes 60 mL/250 mL, pH6.0. The biomass and carotenoids yields of strain RY-8 could be 48.8 g/L and 4.76 mg/L in optimal medium, 20.8 % and 38.4 % were higher than the first separation yields.
