Abstract
Based on the observation and statistics of the World Gymnastic Championship in 1999 and the gymnastic competition in the Olympic Games in 2000 as well as by consulting relevant literatures, the present strength of the Chinese women gymnastic team was analyzed. The Chinese women gymnastic team was sure to be one of the three strongest teams of the world with obvious advantages in items of uneven bars and balance beam. But their horse vaulting and floor exercise were still week. On the basis of the analysis, the strategic aim of the Chinese women gymnastic team in the new century was put forward in order to try to gain a breakthrough in team events and individual events, especially in the above mentioned weak items.
